03/27/18 EAGLE ALERT (Statesboro Campus): Attempted Robbery

EAGLE ALERT (STATESBORO CAMPUS): At approximately 8:50 p.m., an attempted armed robbery occurred outside of the Carruth Building. The suspect is a 6 ft. tall male wearing a black hoodie and sweat pants. Call the University Police Department at 912-478-5234 with information.

UPDATE (March 27, 10:25 p.m.): The suspect in the attempted robbery that occurred tonight on the Statesboro Campus was NOT armed. Anyone with information on this incident should contact the University Police Department at 912-478-5234.

UPDATE (March 29, 11 a.m.): On March 27 at approximately 9:15 pm., a subject reported that he had been the victim of an attempted robbery near the Carruth Building on the Georgia Southern University Statesboro Campus.

Georgia Southern University Public Safety Criminal Investigations initiated an investigation. As a result of the investigation, it has been found that the incident of the attempted robbery did not occur. The subject who reported the robbery has been arrested and charged with False Report of a Crime (misdemeanor) and False Statements and Writings (felony).
