Building is approximately 109,000 s.f.

Budget: 33.6 million for the total job. 25.2 million for construction

This building is planned to be constructed on the site northeast of the Information Technology Building, presently occupied by buildings 211 (Interior Design), 212 (Fashion Merchandising/Apparel Design), and  804(Military Science Building).   All three buildings were planned to be temporary, built to meet the immediate needs of the university at that time.  Buildings 211 and 212 were built in 1987 and 804 in 1990.

The occupants of Building 804, Military Science, will be moved to a new building that is presently under construction.

The new Interdisciplinary Academic Building, once designed and constructed will house, Interior Design, Fashion Merchandising, and Apparel Design all moving from the facilities described above.  Other user groups planned for this facility include; the occupants of building 238 (History, Foreign Languages, International Studies) and building 239 (School of Human Ecology).  These two buildings were built in 1994, as temporary structures.

The net assignable square footage of these 4 existing buildings, combined is approximately 51,850 s.f. and the gross area is 75,852.  The new building will have approximately 109,000 g.s.f.  on 3 floors, and will accommodate all of the existing needs of the above departments plus additional classrooms that can be used by other departments across the campus.

The building will be accessible from the Pedestrium (south) side on the south, and from the parking lot on the north side of the building.  The two entrances will meet in the center of the building where all of the core elements will be located.   The building will follow the materials and the architectural style of the campus, clad in brick and glass.

The building is scheduled to start around December 2016 and be complete for the summer semester 2018
