Research Safety

To promote a safe work environment for all faculty, staff and students, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department will assess laboratories (teaching and research) and shops on campus with a Laboratory/Shop Safety Checklist.

Every laboratory, shop or studio is inspected annually. Principal Investigators and laboratory supervisors are responsible for ensuring compliance with the University’s Chemical Hygiene Plan and must correct any deficiencies identified in the laboratory, shop or studio in a timely manner.

The inspection criteria and inspection checklist can be found under Additional Resources on the Chemical Safety Web page.
