Chemical Exposure Controls

Chemical fume hoods and local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems (such as snorkels, back draft, down draft, canopy hood, etc.) are intended to remove vapors, gases, fumes and dusts of hazardous substances. These systems serves as an engineering controls in laboratories, classrooms, and shops.

Chemical fume hoods and LEV systems are certified on an annual basis to ensure they are functioning as designed.

If you have reason to believe that a chemical fume hood or LEV in your lab has not been certified or is not functioning properly, please contact EHS at 912-478-7161.
