Biological Research Approval

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) at Georgia Southern University is charged with oversight of all research that involves biological agents and/or biohazardous materials to ensure safe scientific practices that do not endanger the well being of university employees, students or the public.

All research that involves recombinant DNA molecules, pathogenic microorganisms and other infectious agents and toxins must be reviewed and approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) before it is initiated.
